50th Anniversary Presents

It was the Revesby Workers Club 50th Anniversary recently. To kick off the 50th Anniversary celebrations they wanted 500 balloons in the dome in their foyer.  These were to stay up for 4 days.

 

Then they requested the fabulous taper topiary towers at all major vantage points through the club.  Imagine walking into the club and having these great designs welcome you. 

 

Next there was the sports bar.  Something that would look great for the week, and still be there when they did the big prize draw.  This was when the starpoints came into their own.  We created the starpoint wall (and altered the bottom layer of starpoints) to fit the space perfectly.

And what was the big prize draw. Of course it was a brand new car - BMW in fact. This was on display at the front of the club and we made sure that everyone who came in knew that it was going to be given away.  "It's our birthday and you get all the presents!!"  That type of feel.

Attention to Detail . . . . everytime

Just want to say what an awesome job you did with the balloon decorations for Audrey’s 21st party last week; the room looked stunning and the balloons were the best colours I had seen anywhere. I really appreciate that you went to the extra trouble to get the string/star height just right, and with all the curled ribbons, it really got the party atmosphere going.

Thanks for all your advice and for doing a fabulous job. I will be sure to tell others where to go for their balloon decorations.

My website says that "Attention to Detail makes MAD Balloons different".  It is not just a glib statement. This client noticed that we custom cut and curled their ribbon (as I told her that we would), and made sure the star cutouts on their balloons were high enough so as not to poke anyone in the eye.  As you can see we do focus on the details - in all of our events - large and small.  Positive feedback like this makes my day. This is why I do what I do!!

Batmitzvah...and more 3' balloon ideas

The main feature was certainly the buffet table.  The client had made the letters of their daughters name and we used the brand new 3' polka dot clear balloons to highlight this.  We put 11' balloons inside each of the 3' balloons to make it blend beautifully with the rest of the decor.  We also sourced some fabulous hot pink polka dot boxes and added orange masterbows to anchor all the balloons.  The whole thing was gorgeous!!

Then we employed the 3' balloons on the dancefloor.  The large balloons had two purposes.  The first was to create the traditional divide on the dancefloor to keep the sexes seperated.  The second was to again put some colour into the huge ceiling void. 

 We achieved our objective....and most importantly our client was very happy.

Big 3' Balloons for Big Spaces

3' Balloons are a bit of a favourite of mine.  They can be used to great effect in a number of different ways.  They are the best way of using big colour to fill in a large space, and create big colour impact.  Here are just a few ways we use big balloons at MAD Balloons.

Branding for your Office Celebration

Printed balloons make a real splash and stand out.  The Man Plan program had reached its initial target numbers, and the team was letting their colleagues know all about it!

They wanted everyone in the office to know about their achievement and had a bold copy of their logo printed on balloons to reinforce the message.

...and when everyone arrived at work that day, they had not one, but TWO squiggly walkunder arches for them to walk through.  The MAD Balloons team "love getting up at crazy hours" so your office event is ready for the eager beavers who arrive at 7am!! 

Job done by 6.45am.  Time to go and find some brekky...

Starpoint Stage Wall

Here is a fantastic design concept that I saw at World Balloon Convention in Dallas recently.  My client was looking for something with the Wow factor for their awards night and here is what we came up with for them.  The main challenges was that we could not get into the venue until just before 5pm, and the guests were arriving at 6.45pm

 This awesome stage display wall features the starpoint and 3' balloons.  We cold not hang it due to time constraints, so it had to be free standing - helium filled.  We added sparkle lights to give it that extra bit of zing.  Good news was the client absolutely loved it.

State of Origin 2012

With less than 2 weeks to go until the big game in Sydney, the MAD Balloons team are gearing up for another big day of ballooning.  While we do prefer the "all blue" balloons, we supply the other teams colours as well.......

 We had lots of fun with the fabulous footy balloons for Game 1 and are ready to roll again with lots of personalised designs.

 This balloon wall is a little bit different and has amazing impact.  We installed it well before Game 1 and 4 weeks later it is still going strong!!

 Is the foyer at your establishment going to be looking as awesome as this one??  Better call us now!

Wishing Well - Alice in Wonderland

 I was called to do an Alice In Wonderland theme for a 21st.  They wanted something special to fill an empty corner of the garden - the outdoor spa on order had not arrived yet.... so what to do with THAT spot.

 It was outdoors, so it needed to be robust.  I created this wishing well in short order. It was a huge hit and everyone wanted to have their photo taken with it.  It lasted the night and well into the next week before they called me to come and collect it. 

OK, so some people's idea of Alice in Wonderland is a bit twisted. Red Riding Hood and The Joker made a wish....but they won't tell me what they wished for..... It seems like a good time was had by all!



Bigger Logo's are Better

We were asked to replicate a logo that was constantly moving on the screen.  I.T client of course. The logo was all bubbles and they were moving in, out and around.  How to replicate this with a static display of balloons was the question.  The client agreed to take a "snapshot" of the logo and we could replicate the picture.  And by the way, it has to be BIG! so that they can place it at the entry to their function and the guests can walk underneath it. 

I told the client that they would need to construct the frame.  Once I approved the specs, the client made a 5mtr tall full metal frame.  It had to be metal with plenty of weight as it was being placed outside.  As you can see Wendy and Hannah are NOT 5mtrs tall, so we lay the frame down during construction.  It was a 3-D design so both sides had to be covered.  We used the new wall technique using 8" duplets to achieve the uniform base coverage.

Then we added the 3', 24" and 16" highlights to make it look like the logo image that appeared on the screen.   Hold on tight ladies, don't let it go.....!

The client was extremely pleased with the final result, and the huge impact that it created. 
       .......just quietly, so were we!!

Sorry about the lack of posts recently.  WBC was the last time I posted.  After that I was only home for 10 days before flying out to Adelaide for ABC2012 - the Australian Balloon Convention - where we attempted the world record balloon drop.  That is a seperate post.

Then I flew my family down to meet me in Adelaide and we spent the next 8 days on a road trip from Adelaide to Alice Springs - with a few necessary detours on the way.

WBC2012 - for the Stampin' Up girls!

To the Stampin' Up ladies in my lovely wife's team and to her customers. This blog post is for you. Many of you wished me well before I left for WBC in Dallas, so I feel it only right to give you a brief rundown of the events of the past 10 days.

On our first day, the Aussie team had to decorate the hotel foyer, and we came up with this masterpiece. Paint swirling down to a colour wheel and a feature wall painted by our new man, Mr Q !


Some delegates got involved in competitions and there were some awesome creations. This design won the large sculpture competition - just remember this is 100% balloons.


Yes the whole idea of WBC is to learn, and not just party. Here I am promoting the "learning" part of the convention in my class.


...and it would be remiss of me not to also promote the "partying" part of the convention. The theme was Circus so I came as the Aussie Human Cannonball!
The flying suit is authentic, as you will note by the strategic placement of the "easy access" zipper!!!














There were a large number of 'accented Aussies' at the convention, almost 30 of us, making us one of the largest represented of the 47 nations present. Here is the pick of the bunch - so to speak - with our large sculpture entry in the background!


It was great to catch up with some aquaintences and also to meet new friends.


...and you will agree with me that this is a fine example of American cuisine - also known as a "small pizza!"



That is about it from me. I just made it back yesterday. I hope to see you all at Marelle's launch on this Sunday. Just to clarify the human cannonball will not be able to attend, however his alter ego will be there to serve the food and drinks (with a smile) as usual!

Festival of Balloons - WBC2012 final event

Even though I am back in Australia, I have to do a post for the final day "The Festival of Balloons".

The WBC2010 Festival of balloons was a huge 'learning experience' (debacle) and this time, everyone was ready and organised. Here is the team getting a stack of balloons inflated and ready to distribute BEFORE the doors were thrown open to the public...

...so that when they came, we were waiting with a smile!

Everyones favourite character, Mr Q was there,with hugs for girls and boys of all ages.

The were people in funny hats...

...there were balloons rides...











...and a couple of Aussie trouble makers doing 'burn-outs' around the room.






Despite this we made it through, and each had a "small pizza" and drink to sustain us after the event.

It doesn't get any better than this.
I will do one more post afetr this with a few select pictures for some friends who want a brief wrap up.

WBC - Final Night

I must apologise that there has been a considerable break between the final night dinner and me actually posting a blog for you all. I must have been more tired that I thought. On Friday night my commitments had ended and I went to sleep without having to set any alarms. My body decided to cash in and I slept for 14 hours straight, not waking until 2.15pm. I missed the classes and was nice and fresh for the final night dinner.

Here is Australia's latest Certified Balloon Artist, and W.A's first. John Brew gained his CBA at the convention and, as you can see, his new found status made him a favourite with the ladies.


Then of course is the fabulous stage decor. Tapers featuring this year and they were very cool indeed.

And after the formalities were over it was time to let our hair down and party. We were only on the dancefloor for a short time, because the DJ was rubbish, but I managed to capture this pic while we were there.
