balloon wall - great techniques

We were approached by Brands Exclusive to create a fun way to give out prizes at the Outdoor cinema at Centennial Park.  It was outdoors so had to be weatherproof, and something that could be constructed and removed quickly.  Only 1 hour bump in.
So we started with the 2 pack balloon wall.  A great design that I learnt at World Balloon Convention last year.  We constructed it in panels then trucked it to the site.  The first time we did it was so windy, so this created a few challenges.  All good though. Ian and Amy are modelling the wall beautifully........

Wendy is constructing the prize wall.  Each balloon had a prize in it and had to be individually tied to the net. Very time consuming, but you can see that the final effect looks super.  The prize wall net was mounted onto  the 2 pack balloon wall.  There was 600 prizes so a net on each side of the wall.
As the guests arrived at the 'theatre' they could choose a prize.  They used the "magic wand" to pop the balloon and they got the prize inside, and there were some awesome prizes.
Brands Exclusive were very pleased with the unique design.  It generated lots of interest, and was a real talking point among the movie goers.  Mission accomplished.

TNT Orange Week at the office

Another example of an office event is TNT Orange Week. TNT have a whole week of celebrations, and they called in the MAD Balloons crew to do what we do.
A large walkunder arch at the entry to the office was the perfect way to start each day.  The squiggles on the arch add that extra touch of fun.
Don't forget about the reception girls. We covered the front of the reception desk with a balloon wall, which came up a treat with the backlight.  Nice and trim so customers and guests could still access the desk.
Then a big balloon banner so there was no mistaking what they were celebrating.  Happy Orange Week TNT!

50th Anniversary Presents

It was the Revesby Workers Club 50th Anniversary recently. To kick off the 50th Anniversary celebrations they wanted 500 balloons in the dome in their foyer.  These were to stay up for 4 days.

Then they requested the fabulous taper topiary towers at all major vantage points through the club.  Imagine walking into the club and having these great designs welcome you.

Next there was the sports bar.  Something that would look great for the week, and still be there when they did the big prize draw.  This was when the starpoints came into their own.  We created the starpoint wall (and altered the bottom layer of starpoints) to fit the space perfectly.

And what was the big prize draw. Of course it was a brand new car - BMW in fact. This was on display at the front of the club and we made sure that everyone who came in knew that it was going to be given away.  "It's our birthday and you get all the presents!!"  That type of feel.
Happy 50th Birthday Revesby Workers.  We hope you liked our presents!

Starpoint Stage Wall

Here is a fantastic design concept that I saw at World Balloon Convention in Dallas recently.  My client was looking for something with the Wow factor for their awards night and here is what we came up with for them.  The main challenges was that we could not get into the venue until just before 5pm, and the guests were arriving at 6.45pm

This awesome stage display wall features the starpoint and 3' balloons.  We cold not hang it due to time constraints, so it had to be free standing - helium filled.  We added sparkle lights to give it that extra bit of zing.  Good news was the client absolutely loved it.

State of Origin 2012

With less than 2 weeks to go until the big game in Sydney, the MAD Balloons team are gearing up for another big day of ballooning.  While we do prefer the "all blue" balloons, we supply the other teams colours as well.......
We had lots of fun with the fabulous footy balloons for Game 1 and are ready to roll again with lots of personalised designs.
This balloon wall is a little bit different and has amazing impact.  We installed it well before Game 1 and 4 weeks later it is still going strong!!
Is the foyer at your establishment going to be looking as awesome as this one??  Better call us now!

WBC2012 - All systems are Go

Welcome again to todays instalment of WBC2012. The pace of the convention is so hectic, I can barely keep up. I will have to do a seperate post of all the wonderful new designs in the welcome room. So, let us review the competitions that finished. I hope this is not too long and boring for you all. Let me know if it is.

First up we have the Awesome Aussies in Amanda, Stacey and Matt, and the postcard from Australia Large Sculpture. well done team.
The jester is very cool and he rotates as well.

It appears that what I though was a naked lady is actually a cherub. Whoops. To be fair I was stuck behind the barrier and didn't get the best view.... that's my story and I am sticking to it!

Some conjecture as to whether the next one is a large bird or dragon. I'll let you decide.

Team Italia were soimpressed by their sculpture they wanted to gaze adoringly at it!

Our Russian friends showed us a pizza oven with the owners sitting on top in traditional garb.

Welcome to the Prep Room. This is where we weave our special type of magic. Here are my room mates Lisa Swiger (USA). The Balloon Bros Dominic and Keith (UK), and Federico Onida (Italy) on the floor at the back. As you can see it is work, work, work...

Here is the majority of the Aussie contingent. Rumoured to be the largest international group at WBC. Top effort!

I hope this video works. It is the Instructors and staff welcoming the Delegates to the opening night of WBC. lots and lots of fun.

Here are the two "Big Boys", Mr Q and our MC Robbie Furman...

...and as always being generous with their time and their smiles, it is Mr and Mrs Qualatex, Ted and Betty Vlamis.

Phew. What a day. Teaching tomorrow so on deck early. Costume night coming up so that should be ...errrr... "interesting viewing".

Let me know if you are enjoying this so far. i'd love to get some comments, and any suggestions on what you want to see.

love your work.

Footy Finals Fever 2011

Another season has past and the mighty Wests Tigers have made it to the final 8 again.

So my friends at Wests Ashfield want the club decked out in Tigers colours - different from last year of course.

So we start with the foyer.
Something that will WOW the members as they enter the club. OK, so let's do two columns and huge entry frame over the stairs. This will get the fans in for the game on Friday!

I also got to sell my brand new taper columns. Free standing, long lasting taper design with large helium star on top with the Tigers logo to top it off. These were placed throughout the level 1 foyer and the lounge.

Then we added some garland to highlight the signage, congratulating the team on making the finals again in 2011.

This is a close up of the sign that you could see from the entry foyer. Half way up the stairs we have a personalised square pack wall...

...or if you prefer the escalators, you won't miss out on the fun either.

Of course if the team go all the way to the big one, the Grand Final, we will get to have lots more fun. Go the Tigers!!

I need an entry to WOW the audience!

The rock band Good Charlotte came to Sydney last November for one concert at Luna Park in the Big Top. The entry of the Big Top is a bit 'industrial' looking, so the client wanted to transform it to a WOW area. As well as transforming ugly to WOW, the client wanted to create a physical barrier to keep the audience away from the sound box and other AV and lighting equipment that was up the back.

The budget was not excessive, but we were able to create the WOW they were after using the fantastic 40" starpoints. We linked these together to create two 16 metre walls that fitted perfectly from floor to ceiling. It created the physical barrier as well as the WOW that was required.

The client was ecstatic with the finished product and the fact that we were on budget. She had looked at a number of other options but most were outside her strict budget.
As they say on the A-Team "I love it when a plan comes together!"

Day 1 - We are at WBC 2010! YAY

After a long and eventful day I finally made it to WBC. 21.5 hours from leaving my house to arriving at Sheraton. My trip was pretty smooth. If any of you know Beth Boynton send her an email and ask her how her trip went....... it's a 27 hour horror story.

Anyway our favourite instructors Dee White and Jodie Norris have been here since Sunday and had just whipped up the fantastic entry decor. I took these photos at midnight as the team were still adding the finishing touches as you can see.

The registration area also looks pretty awesome.....
and the hospitailty suite.,.. OMG so many amaaaaazing designs in this room it would take 50 blog pages to show you, so you're gonna have to cope with one little pic. Take note of the "flowers" on the table.

Tomorrow is when the delegates start arriving and the fun begins. hopefully by then we will be able to send through some pictures with peope in them as well as balloons!!

P.S don't forget with the time change that you guys are a day ahead of us over here.....
...so No I am not running behind........!!

P.P.S - Had dinner with John and Sue Bowler (formerly Marsden-Weston), and they send their love to all.

love your work.
